We are looking for a suitably qualified Community Engagement Officer to join the team. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of Council’s Community Engagement Framework and newly endorsed Community Engagement Action Plan, strengthening a culture of engagement across the organisation. The position provides strategic and practical support to Council staff on engagement initiatives, coordinates community participation opportunities, and assists with the delivery of events and civic activities.
This role works closely with internal teams, community groups, and stakeholders to build understanding, trust, and confidence in Council’s engagement processes while ensuring community input is meaningfully incorporated into Council decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of community engagement activities in line with Council’s Community Engagement Framework.
- Assist work groups to develop effective engagement plans and deliver high‑quality engagement activities.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of an annual engagement program, including pop‑ups and open workshops.
- Coordinate the development and delivery of surveys and other engagement tools.
- Assist with the development and implementation of systems and processes that support engagement and event delivery.
- Work closely with the Events Officer to support Council civic events and event grant programs.
- Provide guidance and general support to assist the ongoing operation and evaluation of the Claremont Community Library.
What you’ll bring:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in engagement, events, business administration or a related field. A Certificate of Engagement or similar is desirable.
- Ability to multitask and work in a cross-team environment providing advice, assistance, recommendations and building capacity in community engagement across the organisation.
- Highly effective writing and editing skills across a variety of mediums, with ability to translate complex information into clear, interesting and relevant content for a diverse audience.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a broad and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organised, with the ability to problem-solve and make decisions to find workable solutions and meet customer and business expectations under conflicting pressures
Position details:
- Full-time (76 hour fortnight) with a rostered day off
- Salary $82,800.00
