Glenorchy City Council is seeking two motivated and community-focused Compliance Officers to join our Public Compliance team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, applying legislation, solving problems, and contributing to a safer and more accessible community. Reporting to the Senior Parking Officer, you will play an important role in enforcing parking regulations and other local laws while providing professional customer service and education to the community.
About the Role
As a Compliance Officer, you will:
- Conduct regular patrols of on-street and off-street parking areas.
- Enforce parking restrictions, Council By-Laws and the Local Government Act, and issue infringement notices where required.
- Educate and assist members of the public on parking regulations, Council By-Laws and the Local Government Act.
- Investigate parking-related, Council By-Law and Local Government Act matters and apply procedural fairness when determining outcomes.
- Assist with Council's permit and licensing compliance activities.
- Monitor parking signage and road markings and report maintenance issues.
- Support Council's annual Fire Risk Mitigation Program.
- Prepare reports, correspondence and, when required, provide evidence in Court.
- Contribute to a collaborative, respectful and high-performing team environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and manage difficult conversations professionally.
- Sound conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A customer-focused approach with a commitment to quality service.
- Confidence using Microsoft Windows applications and learning new software systems.
- Knowledge of Tasmania's parking legislation and regulations, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
