We are seeking a proactive and safety-focused Landfill Operations Lead to provide leadership, direction, and operational oversight at the Jackson Street Waste Management Centre (JSWMC).

About the Role:
The Landfill Operations Lead plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day management of the Jackson Street Waste Management Centre, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant landfill operations. Reporting to the Waste Services Coordinator, this hands-on leadership position is responsible for overseeing landfill activities, coordinating contractors involved in gas extraction and resource recovery, managing hazardous waste disposal, and supporting initiatives that maximise recycling and waste diversion. The role also ensures compliance with EPA requirements, maintains site infrastructure and access roads, and contributes to the planning and continuous improvement of waste management services.
Leading a team of operational staff, the Landfill Operations Lead will allocate resources, coordinate plant and equipment usage, manage training and inductions, and promote a strong safety culture. The position also oversees public litter bin collection and bin maintenance programs, ensuring high levels of service delivery for the community. Success in this role requires strong leadership skills, experience supervising teams in a waste management, landfill or similar operational environment, a sound understanding of workplace health and safety and environmental compliance, and the ability to effectively manage contractors, stakeholders, assets, and operational performance.
