This role drives Council’s climate and sustainability projects, manages natural areas and open space programs, and oversees the city’s waste services. Glenorchy City Council is seeking a community minded Manager Sustainability and Environment to lead our sustainability, environmental, and waste management functions. This role drives Council’s climate and sustainability projects, manages natural areas and open space programs, and oversees the city’s waste services. What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage Council’s sustainability, environment, and waste programs.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor climate, sustainability, waste services, open space and natural area projects.
  • Manage compliance with environmental legislation, safety, and Council policies.
  • Oversee budgets, resources, and team performance, provide leadership and mentoring.

  • Secure and manage grants and funding for environmental programs and projects.

    What you’ll bring to the role:

    • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, or related discipline.
    • Proven experience in environmental and waste management, sustainability programs, and project delivery.
    • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
    • Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder engagement, and team management skills.
