Traditionally, the manufacturing heart of Tasmania, the City of Glenorchy is experiencing rapid economic diversification and growth. It is home to the world-famous MONA, substantive commercial, industrial and retail centres and the Tasmanian Technopark.
Reporting to the Manager City Strategy & Economic Development, the primary function of this role is to support Council with the delivery of an urban public space vision for the key commercial centres in Glenorchy and immediate surrounds (greater Glenorchy) reflecting the current aspirations and future needs of residents, visitors, students and the working community, referencing the Greater Glenorchy Plan 2020. The position is responsible for scoping, project managing and undertaking the development of concept level design, plans and masterplans for specific place making and broader master planning projects.

Position Hours: 2 year fixed term contract. Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week, with a 9 day fortnight
The Person: In order to be successful for the role, you will need to have:
- At least two (2) years professional experience and significant proficiency in the application of urban design and/or place making knowledge and skills
- Project management skills including, proven ability in time management, networking and communication, planning, problem solving and creative thinking and negotiation
- Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written, including report writing, preparation of complex documentation and presentations with the ability to relate to business owners, people of different cultural backgrounds, consultants, sponsors, government and staff.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a degree qualifications specific to City/Urban Planning, urban design, architecture or a related design discipline
Salary: Schedule A, Salary Point 14.3: $88,926.70 to $91,593.87 in accordance with Glenorchy City Council’s Enterprise Agreement 2016.
